From 1 May 2026, the federal solar battery rebate in NSW moves to a tiered structure:
0–14 kWh: 100% of the STC factor
14–28 kWh: 60% of the STC factor
28–50 kWh: 15% of the STC factor
Over 50 kWh: No rebate above 50 kWh
Decreasing Incentives: The STC factor drops from 8.4 (before 1 May) to 6.8 (on 1 May) and will continue decreasing every 6 months. Reduced Value: The new rebate is approximately $244 per kWh. Installation Date Matters: The rebate is locked based on the installation date, not the order date. Combined Incentives: The Federal STC rebate can still be combined with state incentives like the NSW PDRS Bonus.
